Butler Mitchell Alumni
Athletic Excellence Award
is given to the top high school athletic team in WNY as chosen
by BMAA committee.
The team is honored with a luncheon and a customized jacket for each player.
Past Winners include Park School Basketball, East Aurora Boys and Girls Cross Country Team and Saint Mary’s of Lancaster Girls Volleyball.
East Aurora Swimmers Receive 2019 Excellence Award
The outstanding athletes of East Aurora High School’s boys’ swim team received the fourth annual Butler Mitchell Alumni Athletic Excellence Award.
On June 9th, the swimmers, along with coach Chris Musshafen, assistant coach Anna Davidson, and former coach Tom Fahrenholz, were honored at a luncheon held by the Butler Mitchell Alumni Association. The team was presented with the Al Guarnieri Memorial Cup, which they will proudly display at their school. Team captain Patrick Roberts was awarded a $500 scholarship for community service.
This season’s 10-0 finish brought the team another ECIC division championship. It’s the 50th straightchampionship for East Aurora, an impressive streak that has been handed off from Coach Fahrenholz to Coach Musshafen. According to Joe LoTempio of the Butler Mitchell Alumni Association, “We had considered several teams for the award, but once we realized the accomplishments of East Aurora’s swim team, there was just no question that they deserve it.”
The Butler Mitchell Alumni Association is a charitable organization that has grown out of a tradition of service, character, and sportsmanship that is 50 years strong. Their mission is to improve the lives of youths and others in Western New York through educational, recreational, and cultural activities. Their Athletic Excellence Award recognizes outstanding athletic performance of a WNY high school sports team each year.
